This placeholder was created when Martin and I were planning on developing a CFX-III. This was planned to be a development of CFX-II, intended to improve the quality of the graphic output. Whilst CFX-II worked well, the VGA output was not all that I had hoped, with some "noise" being displayed on some VGA monitors.

Although the "lucky" early adopters were quite happy with the board, I was reluctant to do another production run if we could come up with something better instead.

For various reasons, Martin and I rethought the aims of the project and decided that, whilst a Compact Flash based solution was still a possibility, the waning popularity of CF, the increasing prices of CF cards and the lack of a CF interface on most PCs meant that SD card was really a better option.

We are now working on a different expansion board for MTX which will include additional functions, so we have moved on to the Memotech Multi Function eXpansion card - the MFX. The MFX project was kicked off in March 2022 and is probably quite a few months away from becoming a reality. Check out the MFX web page for an update on its progress.
