Memotech MTX512 with

Here is my Memotech MTX512 with RS232
interface, when I bought this new Powers up fine as
you can see from the pics. All the keys work
although the 'L' in particular has a bounce so it
often come up with a few L's - I think I have
captured all the keys on the screen.
There
is the original box - outer cardboard showing signs
of it's age as you would expect, power supply and
five cassettes. The cassettes are two games plus the
Memotech Demonstration tape, Cleaner tape and a
blank (I have no idea what is on the blank if
anything !) The two games included are Toado and
Draughts - both are still unopened in their
cellophane wrappers!I haven't been able to get it to
load a tape successfully - this is prob down to my
tape deck/cable/levels.
Only 'issues' I know
about are - The cable for the power supply was cut
and spliced a long long time ago - I remember this
was to power a small module I built to sample in
from a sound source (guitar) and play back out in
reverse. For some reason it was required (?) to tap
into the PSU for that.... Also I seem to remember
there was a filler for the cut out on the side plate
on the LHS for the access to the edge connector - I
don't have that (if indeed it existed!)

Very rare working,
part-boxd MEMOTECH MTX 500 Computer, very good
cosmetic condition.
It is fitted with a
specially designed left Port cover, allowing a
Memotech external Drive to be fitted. Memotech
produced both 5.25" and 3.5" Disk Drive extension
Modules, (not included) for the later MTX 512 model.
These could also be used with the MTX 500 providing
a thin suitable left Port Cover was used. The Drive
Modules exactly matched the Computer's aluminium
design, and required a re-designed left Port cover
so the connector could be attached snugly to the
Main Board. If you are ever lucky enough to find one
of these Drive Modules this makes attaching it a
very easy matter. The MTX 500 and MTX 512 are
Computers that add that 'extra' touch to any
collection. This MTX 500 comes with its original
Power Supply, Manual, TV Lead, Tape Lead, Memotech
Cover, and software cassette. One or two quite minor
marks if you look hard but overall the Computer is
in very good to excellent cosmetic condition.
Amazingly good for a 35+ year old machine. This MTX
500 boots correctly to its flashing Cursor, and all
keys have been tested and working. It ran a simple
program OK. It also has the internal add-on Memory
extension board fitted. Complete with original Box
(showing signs of wear). No Polys. Plus CASSETTE -
'CONTINENTAL RAIDERS' (Not tested) NOTES 1. The
artefacts on the 'Screen Shot' were created by the
Camera. The actual TV screen is fine. Just included
to show halted Basic program with date. 2. Sometimes
when first switched on a few white dots appear on
the screen, as well as the 'Ready' cursor. In my
experience with MTX Computers this is not unusual.
Just power OFF and ON again and usually they will
not appear. 3. The keys require a quick defined
press and release or they may 'repeat'. A usual
characteristic of this Model.

Boxed - Excellent Condition - Tested
A
beautifully made, quality machine. Original box,
with polystyrene inserts, manual, tape and aerial
leads. Machine is in excellent condition, some
slight evidence of use, but no scratches or dents
PSU is working. Keyboard is reasuringly solid and
accurate. What you see in the picture is what is
included. The outer box flap at one end is torn,
otherwise the box is complete and in good condition.
Poly inserts show some signs of use, but are also in
very good condition. Plastic bag is around the
machine to keep dust out. Leads and power cables in
good condition, but some reaction with the poly
inserts. The sleeve around the end of the DIN power
plug is slightly loose but is perfectly safe The
extent of the testing I have performed is to power
it up, type the phrase 'the quick brown fox jumped
over the lazy dog' and write and run a two lime
program.

you get: : Memotech MTX-512, Power supply, user

Tests conducted : Keyboard, enter and
run a small Basic program, RF-out, see screenshot
for used channel, Composite video out, Sound in both
RF and composite video test
No other test were
done due to lack of hardware and/or software.
During testing, the computer crashed/reset when
moved or tapped on. Some troubleshooting revealed a
bad connection at the black elco located near the
power connector. Re-soldering the capacitor fixed
the problem. Keyboard problems occurred during
testing, more specifically: ‘sticky’ keys. They were
addressed by performing keyboard maintenance. While
typing the little Basic program for testing, I no
longer had keys that had to be pressed hard for a
response, which meant I often had to clear unwanted
repeats as well. I’m not claiming it is factory mint
again, but at the speed I type …

For sale by original (and only) owner. Happy to
answer questions about condition and use. Much
treasured when bought in January 1985. Bill of sale
and original guarantee card included. Very good
working condition for its year (1985). This computer
is as close to mint as possible for a vintage unit.
Minor scratch marks to body as you would expect with
its age. Left port cover. All cables included. Power
supply unit tested and working. Computer tested and
working for programming. Video of simple BASIC
programme being typed and working available.
Keyboard fully working and bouncy, a few keys are a
little stiff as usual. Games: Draught, Toado,
Reversi, Knuckles, Star Commando, Alice in
Wonderland. Package includes the original 5 cassette
games sold with computer plus BONUS Alice in
Wonderland puzzle game. All games include original
packaging. Not tested recently as we don’t have a
cassette player to test them on! Original MTX manual
included. BONUS books included by Granada publishing
- Memotech computing by Ian Sinclair and The
Memotech Games book by Audrey and Owen Bishop.
Condition is Used. Perfect for collector or
enthusiast as this vintage and rare computer is

Owners Club. There are a lot of magazines and other
written documentation about the Memotech also
available to the buyer and included in this sale.
Contents Vintage Memotech MTX 512 Machine With RS232
Port!!! CP\M Unit with Twin 5.25" Drives - This unit
also has a solid state drive inside it which from my
memory is 512Kb. I have 100+ 5.25" floppy discs
associated with this machine. These include the boot
disc, Supercalc and Word Perfect (Was it called Word
Perfect back then?) Separate 8" Floppy drive (No
floppy discs) In Good Condition For Its Year (1983)
