The Commodore Amiga A1200

Storage Upgrade Options

When the A1200 first released, much of the Amiga software was designed to run only from floppy disk, as this was the only affordable "mass" storage option available for home computers. Thankfully, these days, there are more reliable and cheaper options available to replace mass storage devices, including floppy disks and hard disks.

Some examples are :-

Floppy Disk Emulators - details

SD Card based HxC Floppy Disk Emulator home page Lotharek's Lair - manufacturers it
USB based Gotek Floppy Disk Emulator home page (OEM, Gotek do not supply retail)
Both devices are available on ebay

Hard Disk Emulators - details

CF Card based Various, using simple ATA CF adapter to emulate an ATA hard disk
