Pocket PC 2002 "Today" Screen |
Overview
The Compaq h3970 was released in 2002, featuring a 400MHz
Intel XScale processor and Microsoft's Pocket PC 2002 Premium
operating system.
"The iPAQ 3900 Series Pocket PCs were the third generation of
iPAQs and the first to feature XScale processors. Aesthetically
similar to the iPAQ 3800 series, the iPAQ h3950 and h3970 were
also the last iPAQs to carry the Compaq logo.
In addition to being powered by the 400MHz XScale processor
from Intel, the iPAQ 3900s featured an SDIO slot. Another
improvement that made the 3900 series a hit was its front-lit
screen, called a transreflective, or transflective, TFT.
Transreflective screens are brighter and crisper than reflective
displays and make viewing easier on the eyes in both indoor and
outdoor lighting conditions.
A new IR port with increased range was used in the 3900s for
better universal remote functionality [and] it has onboard
Bluetooth capabilities like the 3870."
